Re: Overlaying Video (Multiple Questions)

Did not know the critical fact about the memory limitations of the various models of the IPhones and IPods but makes perfect sense as they move up newer chips, more memory and 64 bit architecture. I guess I will limp along until the IPhone 6 comes and get 64G as my IPhone 5 with 16g does not have the storage I need. Until then, I will have the data but may have to wait to do robust overlays later.

1) With #1 in mind, as I am move data from multicams to HLT main camera directory, and doing the linking to my gopro detail - - - - Is there a way after I create my overlays, then offload on HLT (copy) it into NAS (offline) storage as a complete encapsulated directory, then if you want to move it back to HLT all the links and references are in tack?

2) Is there any clean-up in HLT when you move from race weekend to race weekend? Any files or directories to do any housecleaning, deletes, or other?

3) Do you see any revision forthcoming on what you recommend as an ideal configuration for the main camera?

1) Yes, you can move out video files from Documents (iBrowse) and move them back later without losing links.
2) Housekeeping is automatic except videos: in Video List you find videos not used by any lap marked with a red exclamation mark.
3) ?

Harry, first and foremost your timeliness in responding is amazing. At times, I really feel you never sleep based on times I submit and the few minutes later I get a response.

1) As for #1 above in your latest response, just wildcard *.mov and *.mp4 files, e.g. laptimercapture*.mov files and GoPro*.mp4 and move them to an offline directory. What about any other detail, e.g. *.pdb files or other files?

2) For Multicamcapture-20140720-101027.mov that is captured in your laptimer recordings, why must you rename it when you move it to camera roll?

3) If I ever move the files back to HLP, what maintained the links?

2) The Photo library has a so called API (application programming interface). One has no influence on the way videos are copied / moved / renamed here.
3) The links are stored in LapTimer's database.

Multi core systems have a clear advantage here as communications can be processed in parallel. One of the reasons I have started discouraging the use if OBD dongles for iPhone4s...
You probably need an apostrophe between the 4 and the s. The iPhone 4s does have a dual core processor.

Overlaying Video (Multiple Questions)

Post by Harry »

Yes, the iPhone4S is fine as it comes with a dual core processor. The iPhone4 is the last iPhone with a single core processor.

For Android, I have recently seen there is a big difference between 2 and 4 core systems. While dual core devices sometimes add up to 200ms "drop outs" in OBD communication, four core systems didn't show this effect. It seems requirements are higher here.

I have 8 sessions with 3 camera's data all linked in my main HLT camera. I have copied all the videos to central offline storage. I still want to maintain all the video links in case I decide to revisit and do other overlays. Now I need to free up space, if I go to Video list and just delete all laptimer recordings in the laptimer sandbox with the links still be maintained in the laptimer DB?

My goal is to still maintain the video links but move temporarily all the videos off IPOD and I have a track event this weekend so I need all my 64GB.

Also, I ordered a BT1 on 04July14 after it was constrained for some time and it shipped Monday and arrived today!!

Now that I have linked 8 sessions with 3 camera's and did all the overlays I want at this time, I have used iFUNbox to copy all the videos's to offline storage. Do I know go to VideoList and delete all video's in the laptimer sandbox? If at a later date I copy all the video's back to Laptimer documents directory do all the links automatically relink?

Bottom line, I need as much as my 64G for an upcoming 3 day weekend but may want to revisit older track days.

Hi,

just move any .mov files from LapTimer's Documents folder to your desktop. They will vanish from Video List automatically. They will reappear both in Video List and Lap Details once you copy them back.

So move and delete in IBrouse vs using vidieo list in HLT to save the links, right?
