In the exported LapTimerGPSRecDB.csv and LapTimer-All-20140415-092605.hlptr I see OBD data for a number of samples but it then stops. Any known issues with OBD communication just stopping?

Wireless connection can drop - e.g. when other networks disturb operation. You need to analyze that individually, it is not possible to give a general answer. Which device do you use?

Phone: Nexus 5, no SIM, WiFi only
OBD: BT-connected OBDLink MX (showed up as 4Hz with a warning when I had first tested it with HLP but the warning shortly went away)
GPS: Qstarz 818XT (10Hz mode)

Can't help a lot here. But please check for other BT devices in your car: simply enter your Nexus5's Settings app, select Bluetooth and scan. Disable any devices that show up (except the MX and the 818XT). There is no general issue with operating both devices at a time. As the OBD connection has been flaky before, please watch out for further interruptions here (low update rate warnings are usually due to connection issues OR due to errors received from the OBD bus). You may consider to log the OBD session as described on the Accessories/OBD sub forum.

With that tool, you basically load a source file, choose a preset, maybe change the output resolution and that's it...doesn't get easier.

Do you have a Handbrake preset you use?
Beeing an iPhone user I simply chose the iPhone & iPod touch preset from the build-in ones. There's also one for Android there (and also one for Android tablet). The Android preset should work fine, simply check if the preset video width (720) in the tab "Picture" meets your needs. As far as I read here, Harry recommends using 720p videos at the moment. Setting the width to 1280 will give you a 720p 16:9 aspect ratio video. That's the only thing I would change and give it a try. Here's further info on the build-in presets:

To add some good news, FullHD video processing will be fully supported for Android with the next bug fix release (18.0.16). I made some significant progress with video compression / encoding the last weekend.

Re: the issue with the OBD data going missing. I found when I had the OBD dongle and the external GPS paired via BT with the phone, HLT would use both just fine on initial run. If I put the phone screen to sleep, on screen wake HLT would automatically reconnect with the GPS but would not automatically reconnect with the OBD. I had to go into Sensor List to get the OBD to reconnect.

So you removed the BT device and added it again? I ask because there is no option to reconnect in Sensor List. One reason for missing reconnects is you are driven already. LapTimer blocks a second reconnect while driving (speed > 0) because this blocks BT transmission temporarily - which in turn would generate drop out in recordings.

I removed the device and added it again.
I was out again with the same phone and OS and HLT was better at automatically reconnecting to the GPS and OBD when the app was restarted or switched back to from another app.
