After using Tomtom car kit during 2 years, I now changed for Navigon holders (http://www.navigon.com/portal/int/shop/ ... d=18283372).
It works pretty well and is more stable in high G and bumpy corners.

This car mount is an accessory for an iPhone, which holds the iPhone and attaches itself along with the dashboard in the car. The iphone holders can be easily attached and removed so that you can fix it in the right position. Hence, the iPhone car holder can be removed and used for any number of cars you want. These holders are attached to the vent due to which there is no need of any installation tools to fix these holders, which prevents any damage to the interiors.

Circuits in the UK used for racing will not allow to have anything secured by rubber suckers.
I have one of these on order.

Looks touch and go sizewise, but hopefull should be able to make it fit.
Mounted to a Manfrotto Superclamp, fitted to the roll bar.
Will post a review up when I have it.

I have this one for my iPhone 4.

What you are looking for is something short / solid, without any of the flexible stuff. You also want one that is made for your phone and is not universal as those don't clamp onto the phone enough to hold it in place.

Here is a video to show how it worked.
