POI fix button location

Post by gplracerx »

The new location at the upper right on the map and GPS screens is a PITA. I'm always hitting it when I press the hold button.

Hold button? The buttons are actually not new but were moved from left to right. The left side needs to be reserved for he "back" button in case the view is started from "More".

The hold button is the physical button/switch on the top right of the phone. I looked it up. http://ipod.about.com/od/introductionto ... hone-4.htm

I guess it's also called the sleep/wake button.

I normally put my thumb on the phone when pressing the hold button with my index finger for stability. A good fraction of the time, this activates the create POI button ( plus sign on the screen) and I get the new warning screen that I am about to create a POI and am I familiar with what that does. Speaking of which, can that be turned off? It's really annoying the tenth or fifteenth time it shows up. (Hyperbole. In fact, it was annoying the second time it showed up) That never used to happen when the create POI button on the screen was on the upper left of the GPS and Maps screens.

The alert has been added because misplaced triggers were the second most frequent reason for LapTimer not working on track. Most users are not that much of a specialist like you :-) In version 17.5 you will see many areas that have been secured by dialogs like this.

Some of them, like the purge button right above the maps button, needed a warning dialogue. A warning for POI creation is a very minor annoyance compared to accidentally deleting a track with a single misplaced touch.

Just to make sure everything is save - the Delete button in Lap Details? I do not recall when this one has been added, but at least my latest developer version comes up with a confirmation dialog...

No. Its in the POI list for a track. There are four buttons at the bottom: from left to right and top to bottom: Purge, Map, Test, Certify. Going for Test I hit Purge. Bye, bye track set. I'm reluctant to test it myself. I know I could certify and email them to myself to allow a restore, but....

It seems the button has been moved up by recent LapTimer releases... Nevertheless, version 17.5 will have an additional confirmation dialog added to not run into this issue in the future. In case you observe any other delete function not at least requiring a second actions (swipe+delete etc), please let me know.
