Unable to find GoPro movie on iPhone

Post by SJDave »

I've read the pdf, watched videos, but am unsuccessful getting HLT to find my GoPro video.

I am able to control the GoPro (Hero 3 - Silver) via the app, starting/stopping recording. After taking a test video (similar to your YouTube videos - sitting at a desk), I copy the video from the GoPro onto my Mac. I then open up the video via VLC and update the Genre (e.g.: multicam://cloud/DAS-7FA773CD-GP). I then open up the same video in QuickTime, and export to iTunes. I've tried all 3 of the various sizes offered for that export.

I then sync my iPhone 5 with my Mac, and see the video is copied over. Still in iTunes, I navigate to my phone / Movies, see the unwatched video I just transferred, and also see that the Genre is what was specified in VLC (multicam://cloud/DAS-7FA773CD-GP).

I open up HLT, navigate to the lap, see the iPhone's video taken by HLT first (as Master), and see only the movie camera thumbnail for the GoPro video. If I select that thumbnail and then Remote, I see the Reloading spinner, but no video appears.

The Video List shows no GoPro video.

What am I missing? Also, I am surprised the iPhone video is Master, as I have the MultiCam Preset on Master under Settings.

Love the richness of this app, but am hoping the GoPro integration, as manual as it might be, works...

Hi,

The problem is you sync your video to the Movies area on the iPhone. This cannot be accessed from within an app. So you need to use "Photo" synchronization instead of video: in iTunes, there are two separate tabs for Photo and Movie sync. The Photo one is your friend. Select "Include Videos" to let iTunes copy your tagged video to the Photo app. Once it is there, it can be accessed by LapTimer, show up in LapTimer's Video List, and will appear in the list of videos associated with your lap.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, Harry. GoPro videos are now recognized in the HTL app.

However, I'm still baffled by how to swap the Master vs. the PIP videos (or get rid of the iPhone video all together).

Possible?

Yes, certainly. You use the standard list manipulation gestures to reorder or delete video links: enter any lap's details and press "Edit". Now, you will see reorder bars for all links - push and drag to reorder. To remove a video all together, use the delete gesture.

Was having the exact same issue. Followed the steps to sync the video via the "Photos" section in iTunes after adding the tagged video to iPhoto & creating an album. This step was not exactly clear, for other users who are having the same issue.

After doing so, my video showed up! Will try to take another recording tomorrow morning and report back with results.

Thanks for an amazing app Harry!
