No video recording for the last lap?

Post by lamkee83 »

I ran my best lap today on the last one, but on the data logging, it didn't show the video icon, so I can't overlay the data into it. When I watch the raw clip, it's obvious that the lap was in there... Is it possible to overlay it w/ data still?

Thanks,

Hi,

Yes, but you need to assign the raw video and the correct sync point manually. Select the named lap in Lap List, press Edit, press Add Video. After having selected the raw video, LT will prompt you for the position in the video the lap has been FINISHED. Select this point as good as possible. Afterwards, you can run the Overlay as usual.

Hi Harry, thanks for getting back to me. I always knew that I could sync it that way, but why isn't it done automatically like the previous lap?

Most probably the video link addition has not been saved due to a crash or something. LT stores all data when a lap is finished. As the video stops a little later, adding the video link for the last lap comes in a bit later too and is not stored immediately. This means this video link addition is "unsave" until LT stores the lap database again - either when lapping again, or when LapTimer is sent to background (Home button). That is all a bit technical, but at least it is my assumption. Will be changed in a future version.

Just got back from COTA. Words cannot describe it beyond fantastic. I had a couple issues: 1 last lap two sessions recorded data only, no video, and I suspect in a related issue I got no recording of anything the last three sessions of the last day. BIG BUMMER! I rebooted the ipad touch, I put it into the shade between sessions, I emptied it of virtually all recordings. Is this all heat related or did I foul it up some other way?

I do not understand "1 last lap two sessions recorded data only, no video, and I suspect in a related issue I got no recording of anything the last three sessions of the last day."?

Can you please clarify how many sessions, which recorded what? Maybe it is best to give them numbers.
Did you get any error message (memory or overheating)?

Sorry, Harald, the 1 was a stray keystroke. I ran the second session on Sunday and the last lap (the fastest of the weekend did not have a video, where that would have been was the track diagram with the g-forces shown in colors. The same thing had happened with a fastest last lap the day before but I believe that the video appeared after the next session (I could be wrong but that's what seemed to happen.)

The on Sunday I attempted to record the 2 PM and 4 PM sessions but despite seeing the message that the video would start when I passed the start/finish, I recorded no video or apparently anything else in the 2 PM session. I did find that the remote GPS which was on the dash had shutdown. I made sure to delete everything I could before the 4 PM session and put the GPS and ipod in the shade until the session was ready to be run.

My guess is that either the delay between activating and running was too long and HLT timed out or somehow it was still too warm. (Ambient temp 72 F, but sunny.)

Hi,

Do you see the laps in your "Lap List", or do you miss both GPS recording and video? Losing the external GPS is certainly critical for an iPod touch, iPhones will fall back to the internal GPS. On the overheating topic: did you ever get the overheating message? Although this is one of the small number of reasons LapTimer is interrupted, it is not necessarily the reason for you situation.

Sorry for asking from all sides, I'm not clear what the problem has been here. With the current LapTimer version lost videos are very rare and the only reasons known are: LapTimer is interrupted (overheating), you run out of memory, or LapTimer did not start recording at all (GPS + trigger problems).

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, Harry, I didn't have anything in the Lap List. It was as if I had never turned it on...but I did. How long will HLT stay active before timing out and shutting off? I did get in line about 5 minutes before we went and then had to complete a lap to reach the start/finish trigger.

I also didn't see any overheating message but if it is not a large message I could have missed it never having seen it before.
