I'd like to try locking the focus when making video of road driving as the re-focussing can be annoying at times.
My current starting point has my car parked about a car's length from building. I usually turn on the recording and then set off as the iphone is mounted from the headrest and cannot easily be controlled from the driving seat. The question is if I lock the focus before setting off will it be locked at the distance of the building in front of the car and therefore be out of focus when I get on the road? If so, what would the correct procedure be?
Locking the Focus
Re: Locking the Focus
When lock focus is pressed, the iPhone is asked to focus to the view's center position. Once it is focused, it is locked. So pressing lock focus one car's length from a building is not what you want to do. Workarounds: lock the focus before entering the car, just point to the distant street and lock. Mount the iPhone afterwards and force a tecalibration by pressing the acceleration circle. The later will be necessary as calibration starts shortly after having opened the Video View - while you adjust the focus.
Another solution is to wait until you have a free view ahead.
Hope that helps, Harry

Got that, thanks.
