Laptimer Pro - Timer view

Post by ajk_race »

Hi,

In timer view view with both sector and lap time with gaps enabled:

At the sector split sector timer shows... well the sector time and difference/gap to reference as it should. The lap time however blinks no gap, it would be great if it would stop to show/blink the lap overall difference/gap to reference. i.e. incremental gap/difference on the lap so far. If you did -0,2s on sector 1 and +0,1 on sector 2: At split 2 the lap time view would show -0,1 gap and sector timer obviously +0,1.

Did that make sense?

Also the newest version has a bug in this respect. Every now and then the timer starts measuring the gaps to overall lap time, not to current position on reference lap time. This resulted to gap of -1:57.2 at split 1 etc. I've just had my first test runs with HLT Pro (~ 15 laps around the blocks with self configured track in HLT) and this problem already occured 2-3 times. Only way to fix it is to change reference lap on the fly or stop the timer. Too unrealiable, you cannot fiddle with the setting on a race track anymore. Please fix before springtime :)

Hi,

Actually it should display the -0.1 for the lap gap... I'm aware there is an issue with real time gap analysis currently, but I have not been able to reproduce it so far... But you say once you change the reference lap back and forth, it recovers? That would be a indicator at least...

Yes, the only way to "reset" the timer was to change the reference lap. I waited for a couple a laps for the timer to reset itself after start/finish line but it didn't.

By the way, sideways view is better than normal phone position but with this problem discussed here I noticed it misses the "set ref" button. Changing the reference lap manually to any lap in the lap list also resets this bug.

Using iPhone 4 with latest iOS (6.01 or something) if that's any help.

Reproducing the bug may difficult as it seems to appear randomly. But everytime the gap timing went wild it was after finishing a lap. It blinks the time and gap of the full lap and once the view returned to live timing state the gaps were broken.

It seems the problem has been the point of comparison is not reset after having finished a lap. Sometimes it is difficult to recognize obvious patterns - I have been looking for this issue a long time... The issue will be fixed in v16.8 which is expected to be available in January. In addition to the fix applied, the gap displayed will be a lot less "jumpy" and absolutely accurate.
