OBD scanner

Post by BLindsay36 »

My 5 year old LX 2 OBD does not provide all information to HLT anymore, probably broken. I have acquired an Audi S4 which requires an upgrade scanner just to change the rear brakes. Rather than replace the LX and buy another tool, can a scanner like the ANCEL VD700 or Autophix 7620 connect to HLT effectively?

No, you can connect the adapters listed on http://www.gps-laptimer.de/compatibility/ios or http://www.gps-laptimer.de/compatibility/android only. It might be possible to connect an adapter not listed using LapTimer‘s Custom OBD Adapter feature in Expert Settings, but that‘s not recommended.

In case you changed the car and receive less data, I‘m sure it is. It about the adapter but restrictions of the OBD gateway of the car. Manufacturers decide which PIDs are distributed and Audi / VE are super restrictive.

The only way to receive additional data will be some OEM scanners, but this will not be usable with LapTimer because they utilize proprietary protocols.
