Lap Timer and Armband (Go-Karts)

Post by Falko83 »

Hello,

I'm searching for a good lap timer to use with Go-Karts. The thing is I'll be using it with the iPhone in an armband.

Will the laptimer work properly attached to my arm?

Thanks.

Yes, it will work, but you will not get reasonable acceleration values. You can calculate them from the GPS plot later, but that's a different story.

Will the lap to lap comparison and segment timing be reliable?

Thanks

Yes, think so. The acceleration topic is not related to lap timing / comparison.

Harry, is there a tutorial or website explaining how to calculate acceleration from GPS plot?

TIA

What's the background of the question? You will rarely use it as the standard is to measure it. Only in case calibration didn't work, you want to calculate it from GPS. This means LT derives the corner radius from the gps plot plus speed and calculates lateral acceleration from it.

Harry,

As Falko83, I'm racing with Go-karts and an armband. As you said, I didn't get reasonable acceleration values, that is the reason of my question.

tks

The function to calculate acceleration from GPS is located in Lap Details. It is optimized for 1 Hz GPS recordings.
