Dual XGPS no longer connect, IOs 6.1.2...

Post by johan6504 »

As spring is soon here I am preparing for my first track day. When trying to pair the XGPS 150 to my Iphone I get nothing at first. Rebooting make it show up on the list in the Iphone but when trying connect it tells me "Pairing unsuccessful". I have tried it on my Ipad with an older OS and that works fine. Anyone else with the same problems? It seems to be OS related...

My iPhone5 (iOS6.1.2) connects fine to the Dual (firmware 1.2.6). I'd suggest to contact Dual's support?

I did contact Dual a few days ago but they just wont get back to me, no confirmation of received mail, noting! I just can think of any other solution that getting something else than XGPS 150. How can they be so utterly useless at support and survive?

Hi,

Some information from Dual: This problem is being caused by the iOS 6.1.2 upgrade.
We've filed a bug report with Apple about it.

The solution is this:
  • Turn off Location Services
  • Unpair the XGPS150 from the iOS device (using the "Forget this Device" button)
  • Power down and reboot the iOS device
  • Re-pair the XGPS150
  • Turn Location Services back on

Hi
I did all the steps you list but it did not work fort me.
However, after a complete reset to factory settings in iTunes I finally got it to work :-)
Fingers crossed that it will keep on working...

Dual XGPS 160 SkyPro GPS Receiver. I bought one of these 4 or 5 years ago. Now it will not work with iPad (or iPhone or android device). It shows Bluetooth as connected on the device but the xgps shows rapid flashing light and the status app shows “not connected”. After a short time, iPad error message (device not supported) pops up. Dual sent instructions to do a factory reset but that did not help. Now they say the device needs replacement.
Are you aware if this problem is common and do you know of any fix or work around? Hope you can help. Thank you.

I have never seen this. It sounds like the Dual cannot connect to your iPad and Apple's Mfi program. This is a special certification required by Bluetooth SPP devices (like the Dual) and iOS / iPadOS devices.
