Correctly sync video to GPS data

Post by bazza_c »

Hi, I recorded a video - Google Pixel 7. Run time was around 5min 34 seconds. But as I pressed the stop button, the GPS duration jumped from 5 min 34 to 5 min 47 seconds - which is clearly an error. I manually started the recording as soon as the vehicle started moving. But it seems laptimer has somehow added additional data at the beginning. I can see this because analysing the GPS file shows speed data at zero until around 12 seconds into the file. How do I trim the erroneous GPS data back to the 5 min 34 seconds and resync it correctly to the video?

Just to understand what exactly happened: this recording has been started and stopped manually?

For automatic recordings, lap time corrections are expected. The reasons for this are described (in details) in this FAQ: viewtopic.php?t=5652

To be clear, the correction applied is correct. It is the time during recording that will be slightly off due to GPS sensor latency.
