Hi, I was wondering if you could help me out here.
When attempting to export my database (Databases>Backup) I get a popup which seems to have an hourglass icon flash on screen before disappearing and the export seeming not happening.
The modal that pops up on tapping the backup button informs me that there's the option to add my email address in expert settings. However I've looked up and down this page a few times and haven't seen any configs related to email addresses and backups.
Can someone guide me on how to proceed please? Maybe I'm missing something obvious.
My environment:
Samsung S22 Ultra
Android 14
One UI 6.1
HLT Grand Prix 24.9.1.269 July 1st 2024
It would also be great if I could get the apps storage path, as videos are not being expected to my gallery and I can't seem to find them in file manager.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Database Backup not working
When running an external backup, LapTimer will generate an email and present it using your favorite email app. In case you have configured an email address in LapTimer ‣ Administration ‣ Settings ‣ Expert Settings / Online Racing / User (agreed, it is hard to find), the address will be added to the email for convenience. Otherwise, you can enter it in the mail app yourself.
From your description, it looks like there is a general issue with bringing up a mail app. Which mail app do you use and is it configured with an email account? We use Gmail for testing.

Re: Database Backup not working
I'm using the Gmail app (v2025.03.16.738445112). This is my default email app and configured with an email account (*@gmail.com).
I don't the the email config option on the expert settings page either:

How big is your database, i.e. how many laps do you have in Lap List and what is the typical GPS rate you have? The GPS rate is usually 1 Hz in case you use the internal GPS but can be up to 50 Hz… It is possible the backup is created but cannot be added due to its size…

Re: Database Backup not working
It's 26 laps, 5MB so < the 25MB max attachment size in Gmail.
Re: Database Backup not working
It is getting exported from a binary format to ASCII and is compressed afterwards. So a sizing from the 5 MB isn't possible. However, 26 laps are far from any limit and will not be the issue here.
So I suggest you use file sharing instead of a mail based backup. A backup is actually an export of all laps. So you can create a "backup" using the general export function. There are several places to start export, try this one:

- navigate to Lap List
- select the share icon in the top right (probably the second from right)
- select "All" as scope
- select ".HLPTRL" format and deselect any other selcted
- press Share
