Lost all of my data

Post by Juancl »

At an event this weekend in a new track. Set everything up last night (loaded new track and added new car). First session today everything was working great. After the session when I went to see my lap data the app froze (using an iPhone SE on iOS 15.8.3 and HLT 24.9.1). Since it was unresponsive, I closed the app and when I opened it again all my lap history including that first session from today was gone, my vehicles were gone. I created a new driver and car and reloaded the track and continued using the app during the day and it worked perfectly (did not freeze at all again). I had 110 laps of data across cars and bicycles and would hate to lose them, so was hoping to get some help here.

This happens in case LapTimer discovers a corrupted database during startup. It stores this database as a System Backup and starts over with a new empty database. You can find and probably repair this database: LapTimer ‣ Administration ‣ Database. Start with creating an external backup of your current Active Database. Next, find the most promising looking System Backup in the bottom and use the Restore function to make it the active database and start a repair (Check Data). In case you are not successful, repeat with another System Backup (if available). Once you have restored the old database, import the initial Active Database from the backup to add the new laps on top.

Important: once this is done, delete all duplicates from LapTimer. Otherwise, LapTimer may crash during a future Check Data action. At least the demo laps will have duplicates.
