Why is it so complicated to get laps moved? Why can't the data just be moved with File manager from one phone to another. I have been futzing around with export and import all morning, various errors, and now most of the laps are duplicated 2 or 3 times. Grrrr. Where the hell is the data located? Why does this have to be so damn complicated?
Frustrated!

Re: Moving laps from one phone to another
Once again, every two to three years it seems, I have new phone and trying to migrate data from old phone to new one. FI am following instructions in how to (written in 2015 - so who knows if that is still accurate information) and exported data from old phone in .hlptrl format, copied to new phone, using ES File Manager press on exported file, says open with Harry's Lap Time, Lap Timer opens but then nothing. No data is imported.
Really, this is a mess. Should be a simple process to move data from one phone to another. Come on Harry, make it happen!

Re: Moving laps from one phone to another
I just discovered something which was not included in Harry's How to - when you import back into Harry's on new phone, and you open or click on the export file in ES File Manager, you can NOT have Harry's open, or nothing will happen. Close Harry's LT before importing! Then the import works. Still a very cluggy process!

Re: Moving laps from one phone to another
Data is stored in LapTimer so called "sandbox" using a binary / proprietary data format. This is an app specific folder accessible by the app only. Transferring data is done using the lossless .hlptrl (or compressed .hlptrz) format. One device exports a selection or all laps, the other imports it. Imports are additive. So importing twice will duplicate laps. In case you migrate the full data, wipe the lap list on the transferred to phone before importing. In case you want to transfer lap data recorded during your last track day only, make sure you use a proper lap selection when exporting and import it to the other phone only once. We do not support any cloud platform currently.
