Ideal time to Stop Race Recording

I had a peculiar behavior that I did not experience before. I lost a track session video. For years, when I reach paddock, I hit the cancel button and the cool down lap is not in the lap list. During this event on a 3.8 mile track, I hit cancel while mid-way through the cool down lap and lost the whole session.

Just to be sure, when is ideal time to hit cancel (or other button) after the session ends and retain all laps?

Cancel should only delete the whole session if the laps weren't split. But you should be able to determine that by whether you see lap times or not. However, I would rather edit the lap list rather than run the risk of losing data.
