App crashed, won't start - Android
App crashed, won't start - Android
Did a track day yesterday, and tried to overlay some video when I got back home. App froze immediately when starting overlay export. Now it it won't start again, not even the start up display, just hangs. I did not perform a backup before trying export.
I can access and copy the videos from the SD card, but what about the database? How can I copy the data before uninstalling/reinstalling? Any other suggestions?
Any help greatly appreciated!
Phone: Samsung S7 edge, latest Android. LapTimer Grand Prix edition, latest version.

Re: App crashed, won't start - Android
Please reboot the phone, make sure you have space available and try again. Let me know if you see any message or progress information when starting LapTimer afterwards. Without rooting the phone, you can't access LapTimer's data. Uninstalling the app will delete the data with no way to restore it without a proper backup.

Re: App crashed, won't start - Android
Thanks!
Closed all apps and rebooted several times, no difference.
There is plenty of free space, 42GB on SD card (of 183GB total) and 12,6GB on phone.
Absolutely no messages or progress information on screen, just a grey area covering the screen. Doesn't even make it to the first screen.

Re: App crashed, won't start - Android
Please check if you get an update from PlayStore. If so, please try again.
In case you do not get different behavior, I do not have an option to access the files currently. I can add an emergency start up option similar to iOS, but this will require time. As written before, please keep you installation for now.

Re: App crashed, won't start - Android
Hi,
Sorry, not update from PlayStore. Emergency startup would be a nice feature I expect.
Is there a way to set up automatic backups?
Thank you!

Which is your LapTimer base edition? I.e. the edition you installed initially (before any upgrades). I will try to provide a test version short term.Thorden wrote:Hi,

Hi Harry,
The base edition was the Petrolhead. Then I upgraded to Grand Prix.

Re: App crashed, won't start - Android
Hi,
I have uploaded version 21.0.11 a minute ago. Please update to this version from your PlayStore app in about half an hour (or later).
Once the app is installed, press the link below from you smartphone's browser:
http://gps-laptimer.de/laptimer/emergencystartup
In case you get a 404 error message in your browser, please copy the link into a mail and send it to an account you can read from your mail app. Open the mail app and touch the link again.
When asked, select LapTimer to open this link.
If everything works well, LapTimer will reset the database to the demo set but keep your current data as a backup in LapTimer / Administration / Database. Try to restore an older database from here or send a raw database to me.

Hi Harry,
Sorry I didn´t see this until now.
Good news; it worked like a charm! Just had to restart the app as an additional step after using the link.
Thank you so much for your assistance!
