The HERO 4 Session is fully supported in LapTimer v20. The HERO 5 Session is not yet supported.
In terms of instructions, the HERO4 is handled the same like the HERO4 SE/BE - just use the extra selection in Settings.

The GoPro HERO4 Session is no longer available and it seems that the "new" model is called simply GoPro HERO Session. The differences seem to be merely the accessories https://www.camforpro.com/blog/neue-gopro-hero-session/ .

Has anyone tried the "new" model GoPro HERO Session?

I currently suffer from the jittering of the iPhone cameras (I used a iPhone 5C here https://youtu.be/RqkhI-REIeA or https://youtu.be/EXdAUWnqk3w , at that day additionally my DUAL XGPS 160 could not switched on anymore while - as a compensation of this not switching on - after about 10 rounds the brake pad wear alarm od my car switched on).

There will be a better preparation for the next trackday. That's why I ask here.

Will the GoPro HERO5 Session have a much better non-vibrating picture due to the video stabilization or will I have to expect the same negative results as with the newer iPhones (I also tried the "strong magnet trick" with a iPhone 7 Plus, but the results where not convincing). Can I use the GoPro HERO5 Session with the setup of HLT called "GoPro HERO5 BE" corresponding to the black edition.

Any experiences on that would be appreciated.

Hi,

The new Session is not supported yet. This means it is not remote controlled by LapTimer but can be operated manually. Once back, you can add footage from the cam to LapTimer recorded laps and overlay it. It is one more step to do using this manual mode, but at least you can use it until full support is getting available.

Great app. I realize you are constantly working to keep up. Do you have an ETA when support for GoPro Hero 5 Session might be rolled out?

For those wondering, I confirm the new 'Session' (replacement for Session 4, not to be confused with Session 5) does in fact work with Lap Timer. I had to choose Session 4 under the multicam list under settings. During race mode, the status will not show any multicam presence however if you choose the preview setting for phone & external cam, the Session will show up in the right corner with a flashing blue light. I am not sure however if it will record automatically while on track or if it requires the user to manually press start / record since I only tested this at my home.

Your software is great however i wish i would have seen this thread before my Track Day saturday. I have a new GoPro Session and didn't get any footage. I just played around with the session 4 settings and they seem to work. I'll be going to the track again in a few weeks so Harry if you do find any issues with the new Session integration i'd love to hear it. Thanks.
