Multi Cam with IOS device wont connect

Post by ploney »

I am using a Ipad Mini2 and a Iphone 4s as a multi-cam option.

Bluetooth on both are turned on and wifi. Multicam App is started on the Iphone 4S.

When I select the Multi-cam option after selecting the video button, the little white dot just keeps flashing and the status never changes showing the external IOS device connecting.

On the master(Ipad mini 2), When I go to the video screen I don't see the second screen from the IPhone 4S.

In some of the documentation I did see that the Administration area should have a detect mutli-cam option, but I am not seeing that anywhere on the current version of HLT.

What else can I try??

Secondly, Will the low speed option in the advanced tab help out if in an autocross start where the start lights are only about 30 feet from the standing start. Thus when crossing the Start Position within HLT I would only be going about 20 MPH.

Please see viewtopic.php?f=39&t=1693 for a known issue with MultiCam since iOS8.
The only additional check I want to add - make sure both devices are connected to the same WiFi, i.e. do not only have WiFi turned on. According to Apple's peer 2 peer framework this should not be necessary, but reality is far from spec here.

The mechanism will be replaces for v21, this is already work in progress.

The old MultiCam setting has been replaced by Laptimer's Video Operations screen. You turn on MultiCam detection by selecting external cam options (internal+external or external only).

The low speed option should not be necessary as you will be on speed after 30 feet already. The issue with tight setups like this is, that low GPS accuracy may deliver positions before and behind the starting line while still being staged. So you will probably get false starts by LapTimer.

I wont have wifi networking available when at the track Harry.

Do I need to hotspot between devices via wifi?

Yes, several reports show it is working like this only. I plan to replace the communication technic in v21. Use tethering to create a WiFi for now device and share its WiFi with the other afterwards.

I agree with Harry, don't use the allow low speed setting for competition. I've never had a problem with triggering even when the starting line is very close to the staging line. I also prefer to start video recording manually before the launch because there is a significant delay even when using the standing start option.
