Can I save a custom Track

Post by Toxic Coolaid »

I have set up 2 custom tacks There is basically 2 sections that can be run in either directions. I have everything set up with sectors and information points, and it all works very well. It took me the better part of a day to set all this up, test it, tweak it and test it some more. Is there any way to save and back up these POI's? I'd hate to lose all this work.

I just used Lap Timer at Barber Motorsports Park on my R6. I't worked great.

Thanks

Two options:

Navigate to your POI set and press the Certify button. Instead of sending it to me (LapTimer@gmx.de), send it to you. You can access this mail later from your iPhone and open the POI set (.hpoil) by pressing it. Once pressed you will be asked if the file should be opened by LapTimer.
Alternatively you can send your POI sets to me to add it to the Add-ons list. This path is for POI sets of general interest only (certainly).

ok great. Thanks. I wasn't sure what to do with that file type. I've done both, sent it to you and to myself. The POI's I sent to you could be divided into 2 separate tracks... The Bristol side of 421, and the Mtn City Side of 421. If you'd like me to do that I'd be happy to. One other question/suggestion. When I was setting up the POI's for the track, the + "add POI" it by default a "Start/Finish". I then had to go back and change almost all of the POI's to "Split". It would be nice if either "Split" was default or if there was a way to set your own default POI. I only say this because most POI's will be "Splits" or "Info" and most of the time you will only have one "Start and Finish". Just a thought.

Absolutely great product. I've not seen anything that is close to your lap timer. The selection of tracks is tremendous, and the amounts of data are awesome. I like my iphone, kinda miss my Droid, but Lap Timer and ability to get data acquisition is probably my favorite thing about the iphone. I showed it to several people at the track days. Hopefully that will send more customers your way. I live in TN and a guy from FL told me about Lap Timer. They were riding through Shady Valley on a group ride. It'd be cool if you could get in with some "Track Day" groups. Mine was with Sport Bike Track Time. Most guys had (at most) the plain ol IR lap timer that only tells your lap time. It's great to be able to see segment times and speeds both down the straights and through the corners (where it's really important).

Thanks for your feedback :-)

On the default trigger type: only the brave ones create new track sets from scratch. ;) As the database it getting more complete all the time, they will get even less in the future. What remains are the 'one off' tracks, like AX or random tests on public roads. For these users the standard is o.k. I think?

Thanks for sending 421, I will check if I can split it and come back if I have questions.

I guess technically it should be Shady Valley...Bristol Side and Mtn City Side. The actual US 421 is a very long highway. Northern MidWest to North Carolina Coast I believe

Question custom tracks, I alternate between a custom track and a track in the database. Once I load the track from the database, is the only way to re-load my custom track by opening the exported (certified) custom track in the email? Is there no way to manually add to the track list?

To backup and restore the custom track, please use the "Certify" process: goto your track set's POI list and hit Certify. This will usually send the track set to me (Tracks@gps-laptimer.de). Change the address to your own and you have a backup of your track definition. To restore it, open your mail program and touch the .hpoil attachment, this will restore the track set.
