Info:
HLT 20.0.11 (however, I don't remember what version I was at when I recorded the video/data on 4/23/2016)
iPhone 6s (latest iOS)
GoPro Hero3+ Silver set as Master camera (not recording with internal camera)
No external data
Questions/Issues
First of all, I apologize if this is been covered before but I've been searching around and haven't quite been able to find something exactly like my situation.
I am recording video with my external go pro. I am not recording video with my iPhone. After I transfer the videos to my iPhone to do the overlay, I am having some issues with syncing. When I first overlaid the video, the timing was about 2.5 seconds behind. So, I went into expert settings and changed the overlay synchronization from the default value of .5 to 3. After doing that, the lap timing started exactly at the point I crossed start finish line. However, now my speed displayed in the overlay does not sync with what is actually going on in the video. It looks like it is several seconds behind. At the same time, the corner speeds and straight speeds seem to be good. Also, the G-force is not in sync either.
I am not sure if there are any settings I can change to get the speed to sync up. Could someone provide any insight?
I am thinking about purchasing the Gopoint BT1 device so I can get some of the data directly from the ECU. Will this possibly help with synchronization? I'd hate to spend the money on the OBD device and still have issues. For what it's worth, I have a 2003 BMW M3.
Maybe this deserves another thread, but I'll go ahead and throw it in here... My automated recording started and stopped excellent on day one of my event. However, the second day, no recordings were made. Harry's never started timing for me. I'm not sure what happened. As far as I can recall, I was using it exact same way I did the day before. I noticed this after the first session of my day. I tried rebooting my phone and my camera restarting the app etc. It just never started recording for me that day.
Thanks for any help!
Speed Sync Issue with External GoPro
Re: Speed Sync Issue with External GoPro
Hi,
It is unclear for me what your primary sync selection is? If both G forces and speed are off compared to the video, the video is not synced correctly. Me recommendation is to use acceleration as the primary measure when selecting the sync point. Speed may be slightly off (if acceleration and GPS are not synced perfectly), but this does not seem as a real issue to me. Min / max speeds should not be used for syncing at all, they are shown for a section anyway and are roughly around the position the min/max occurred.
In case LapTimer does not start / stop, always check you have the track set loaded and good GPS accuracy.

Re: Speed Sync Issue with External GoPro
Rather than changing the video delay, you should reset the video sync. Reset the video delay to the default value. Then, in the lap details, touch the arrow to the right of the video preview thumbnail to open Video Details. Scroll to the bottom and touch the arrow on the right of the last line to get to the Video Sync Setting menu. Follow the directions there and then return and overlay.

Thanks both of you. I will check out these adjustments!
