Audi TT Roadster, getting started

I bought the Petrolhead versión from the AppStore a few months ago, but have not yet achieved how to proprely set it up.
I use an iPhone 5 and a OBD2 Wifi.
The iPhone is mounted securely on the windscreen.
The thing is I actually get everything working together, but then when I want to record video and get the engine information to overlay, it starts to lag, whilst driving.
At the end of the video, when I want to watch it, it progressively starts to lag, until there is a very significant difference in what you see compared to the data shown.
It is not wrong, just really slow.
How should I attempt to fine tune the software?
Is there any topic related to getting started or specifically to an Audi TT Roadster (2001) 1.8t quattro 225cv BAM engine?

What is the configuration? Which iOS version? Which OBD 2 adapter? Which LapTimer version and edition?

When saying it starts to lag - what do you mean. Does the data lag when overlaid to the video, is the video getting slower? Or is the device and complete operation getting slower?

Being a 2001 TT I guess the OBD update rate will be rather poor and you actually might not be able to do a lot about it if it's the refresh rate that's bothering you.

Sorry for the late response
I have been trying it lastly and it works better than it used to, specially when overlaying the video
But it still is very low (around 5 seconds in difference from what is happening to the data obtained via wifi)
I think it is what bulls23 says
Can I make the app look for less data (such as water temperatures) so that it focuses more on rpm (and I get a better refresh value)?

I am using an iPhone 5 with iOs 9.1 (13B143)
OBD2 is from eBay, an ELM327 wifi

BTW, I think in earlier versions you also had a fuel and temperature overlay on the video
Have they been deleted or can it be changed from the menu settings?

As discussed in many other threads here on the forum, restricting PIDs will mostly not add speed. PIDs like temperature are requested at low rates by LapTimer and have minimal influence on update rates for the fast changing PIDs. Performance of ELM knock offs is not predictable either, I can't offer support for them. Supported adapters are listed on www.gps-laptimer.de/compatibility/ios

Yes, now I know they are worthless and have to update it
Unless I want to add a Wifi camera (GoPro) am I correct in thinking the OBDlink MX wifi is the best option?

It is the fastest option, but not the one most convenient. The two BT options available for iOS (Kiwi3 and GoPoint BT1) are by far more convenient because they are "set and forget". WiFi may drop connections due to other WiFis around. The clearly higher speed of the MX will likely not add as much benefit for a pre-CAN bus in addition.
