Ok that makes more sense. A green street is good because I'm "gaining" regardless of total lap time. You can be ahead by 10 seconds but if the street is red that 10 second gap is reducing. I understand what you mean by using it as a training tool.
I still think it would be helpful for a video tutorial on the timer screen itself that explains this and shows the different states of the street widget. It's not intuitive just looking at it what is the nature of its function.
