data going missing
data going missing
I use HLT GP 19.0.8 (64) on iPhone 6 running iOS 8.4.
Yesterday I ran an autocross, using an XGPS160 and a BT1. I captured external video with a non-GoPro camera. The data recorded well and connections were solid. Yesterday when looking at the three runs, the first indicated a lap time but then did not have any GPS data. When I used the Check Data option, it fixed some "problems" but the GPS data did not reappear. When I asked it to recalculate the acceleration, it changed the lap time to something crazy. Since that was the slowest of the three runs I captured, I didn't worry about it.
Today, I transferred the video to my phone and linked it to the lap. But now all the GPS and OBD data is gone for the two laps that remained. I am 100% positive they had good data, as I looked at it yesterday and recalculated the acceleration from GPS since my mounting isn't quite like HLT expects. With smoothing, that recalculation worked well. I tried to export the two laps, but no attachment is generated (presumably because there is no data). The email reports:

I tried Check Data again but it found no problem. It does report 5 recovery databases. I didn't purge them because perhaps they contain the data I seek. How do I use them to recover my lap data?
Any thoughts?

Re: data going missing
The description to make one of the recovery copies the active database is available here: viewtopic.php?f=39&t=2626 Please make sure to save your active databases to the desktop (or to an extra folder on your phone) first. Who known what the recovery databases include...
Actually this is pretty strange - there should have been some other event (like battery low turn off or similar) to generate this situation. Please note there are situations Check Data considers a recording damaged and purges it. In case you have a recovery database showing this "damaged" data before Check Data, data can probably be recovered manually (by me - with quite a lot of work - so please ask for it only the data is vital for you

Re: data going missing
Thanks for the reply.
I have a couple issues:
(1) none of the recoveryDB folders is dated after any of my autocross runs from yesterday, so I doubt they could have the data that is now missing;
(2) using iTunes file sharing, I cannot seem to copy or browse into the recoveryDB folders anyway.
I could see that this might have arisen as my phone overheated while waiting for my fourth run. But since I later viewed the three runs before that without issue, I thought it was fine. Then the first run went missing but I interacted with and verified the second and third run. Now those are empty. Nothing has happened on the phone that would have caused it in the timeframe between me interacting with the lap data and that data going missing, and no recovery database appears for that time either.

Re: data going missing
(1) So they will not help...
(2) Drag the full recovery folder to your desktop, it will bring all the .pdbs included.

Re: data going missing
Dragging the full recovery folder to my desktop does nothing. It shows an icon with a plus, but upon releasing the mouse button, nothing happens. Copying individual files works fine.
So, no ideas about what may have happened to my data? And no chance to get it back?

Re: data going missing
I assume the data has been purged due to some inconsistencies. Probably introduced by the low battery alarm or some other issue. I'm sorry, but without a automatic backup or a manual backup, there is no way to restore the data.

Re: data going missing
Okay, I will just sort of see how it goes. As an attempt at reliability, I deleted HLT and reinstalled it, then restored my data export. So hopefully next event I don't have similar issues. Thanks again for your work and support.
Re: data going missing
Sorry to jump on your thread, but I have a similar issue. I just didn't want to start multiple threads for the same issue.
I had a few recordings where I manually start/stop in classic mode (I do this frequently). When I look at the lap list in analysis all is good. Shows all the info with GPS, OBD2 and all the fixes. When I go to export, it sends the e-mail but there is no attachment. I have tried selecting all of the different formats (even though I only need .csv) but nothing ever comes over. Everything worked great up until about a week ago, and the only thing that I updated was my desktop to windows 10, so I thought it was that. But then I tried this morning on my Mac at work and same thing. Any ideas?

Re: data going missing
Please check if the track the lap belongs to includes some accent characters. In case it does, please let me know and I will try to reproduce. Please add your phone / OS configuration too.

Re: data going missing
The last few weeks I have not actually been on the track. When I look at the lap recordings it says under track "unspecified", is that my issue? I have been on normal roads, which is one of the reasons I use the classic menu and a manual start/stop. It has worked out well for me for years, its a nice way to collect GPS and OBDII data from my bike and overlay it on my video. I use an iPhone 5 and and iPhone 6 both running 8.3 v19.0.8 of your software.
Typically i will record with the old iPhone 5 as it fits under the seat in my bike. Then I use the transfer feature to transfer the lap files to my iPhone 6 (iPhone 5 has no service) and then export to my e-mail and all is good. But lately the e-mails are going through but with no attachments.
