Multiple crashes with v19.0.1 on Galaxy S4
Multiple crashes with v19.0.1 on Galaxy S4
I did two track days at COTA this past weekend and got several annoying issues with v19.0.1
1. Whenever I try to delete a lap from the lap list, I get the "Unfortunately, LapTimer has stopped" message.
2. When LapTimer crashes as above and I try to Report the issue (one of the options on the crash message, I get another crash.
3. About 50% of the time when I completed a session and tapped the Cancel button to finish recording, LapTimer crashed (same message)
Using Samsung Galaxy S4.
Any idea what's going on here? I really need/want to delete some old laps (recorded with version 18.x) but can't and would like not to have it crash when I complete a session.
Thanks
Joe

Re: Multiple crashes with v19.0.1 on Galaxy S4
Sorry to hear.
Please turn on automatic updates in PlayStore. LapTimer v19.0.4 is available for 5 or more days and fixes the delete issue. The Cancel issue is unknown, please run a Check Data from Lap List to verify your database is fine.

Re: Multiple crashes with v19.0.1 on Galaxy S4
Hi Harry. I updated to 19.0.6 today and the "Delete Lap" issue is resolved. I'll check the other (Cancel) issue next time I'm at the track and report results.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Multiple crashes with v19.0.1 on Galaxy S4
I just had the cancel crash issue. Simple setup autocross with regular start line. I am starting video prior to the lap so the recording will be running when crossing start. After the lap I press back to exit video screen and it crashes every time. It seems like it loses the start stop triggers when this happens. 19.0.8 running on galaxy note 4 android 5.0.1. Thanks!
Re: Multiple crashes with v19.0.1 on Galaxy S4
Maybe a cam compatibility issue for the Note 4. When closing video view, the cam is released. I have seen some crash logs on cam status issues but need to check if your report is captured by one. Please send me a contact mail from within LapTimer so I see the data necessary to identify your device in the logs? Thanks. Please add a link to this thread or a note "Crash when closing Video View" so I know what the mail is about.vmbray wrote:I just had the cancel crash issue. Re: Multiple crashes with v19.0.1 on Galaxy S4
Okay will do. Tried it again and it's being caused by manual start of video prior to start line. You suggested this for autocross so the video would be running which is cool bit it's definitely the cause of the crash. Did two laps letting timing start manually and it was fine exiting. Last lap I started video manually ahead of lap and it crashed as before.
Crash when exiting video view - when using manual start
On android when you manually start the video, after crossing the finish line when you press 'back' to return to the timer view, the program crashes every time. When it happens it loses the start/stop triggers and generally wrecks the setup of the track etc. Mine usually reverts to whatever the last start/stop triggers it had programmed which could be from days prior.
Being able to capture the start line and add some intro outro would make the video a lot nicer and would have some practical reasons too. We usually go past the timer display right after the run so it would capture the time on video which is good for reference sake. Also it might help if there was an issue of picking which gopro video was which since there would be footage of people talking etc that would have more definite clues.
I updated the other day and tested it and sent a crash report. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help and thanks!

Not sure why you opened a new topic? Merged it with the existing topic.vmbray wrote:On android when you manually start the video, after crossing the finish line when you press 'back' to return to the timer view, the program crashes every time. You write "after crossing the finish line when you press 'back' to return to the timer view, the program crashes every time". Does this happen for a track with separate start and finish (i.e. when going back to Timer, LapTimer is actually not data recording any more - just the video is still active)? Do you see the green "Stop" button at this time?
