Losing Lap Times at AutoCross

Post by numonekobefan »

I did a search for my specific issue and didn't find anything. Here's what's been happening the last few times I've autocrossed:

*I am using my phone (iPhone 6) along with a Dual XGPS sampling at 10Hz.
*I am running a Chump/Lemons car that has all the non essential wiring stripped out of the car, including cigarette lighter socket, so charging my phone is not possible.
*I build auto cross tracks by setting the start and finish points.
*When my phone reaches 20% battery life, it automatically displays a message notifying me that I am at 20% battery life, and it expects me to acknowledge the message by clicking on "Dismiss". It seems as though that while this message is displayed on the screen, Harry's Lap Timer stops looking for the start and finish points. So if the message comes up during the run, when I look at my phone in grid, the timer (which is still running in the background behind the battery notification) is still logging time. So in order for me to get data on my next lap, I have to click on "Dismiss" (low batt notification) first, then I have to hit "Cancel" on HLT so that I can then get data on my next lap, which means I lose the data from the previous run. I understand this would be eliminated if I had a charger hooked up to the phone, but in my case that is not possible. Is this something that could be fixed with the Settings in HLT? Or do I just lose data for those runs when my phone gets to 20% and 10% battery life?

Thanks.

Hi,

The story behind this behavior is LapTimer is actually sent to background when this dialogs come up. This means processing is stopped and data is not recorded. Time keeps running while in background, but data is not recorded.

I do not have a solution for except adding a power supply. You may consider a battery pack (there are several available) in case the 12V plug is a no go.
