Hi Harry,
Can you please explain the 'regularity' function in the lap timer.
Thanks,
Tom.
Regularity
Re: Regularity
Hi Tom,
You can find a short description on the Regularity display here: http://www.gps-laptimer.de/User_Interface.html, search for 'Lap Details' to find the section.
"Regularity is a special feature that can be used for regularity events. With a target speed given (Speed), LapTimer calculates the time gap resulting from any deviation in average speed. The first section for example was driven with an average speed of 122.1 km/h instead of 124.0) resulting an a gap of 0.52 seconds. Summing up all the time gaps (negative gaps are made positive), an overall penalty ob 15.32 seconds results and is displayed."
This is for a special kind of regularity event were several sections need to be driven in a time given. You need to setup the check points ahead of race, using the technics described for track definitions (http://www.gps-laptimer.de/Tracks.html).
The PalmOS version had an online display of the resulting penalty. Due to low demand I have not yet implemented this for the iPhone.
A different kind of regularity is driving on lap making it the reference, and comparing all other laps in exactly this time. This mode is well supported as you can use the lap to lap comparison feature provided in the Timer or Racer view: setup the track you want to measure (actually the start / finish line); run your reference lap; goto Lap Details and press 'Reference'; drive all other laps using the Timer or Racer View. You will get a continuous display of your timing gap compared to the reference for every position on track based on the GPS position.
