[SOLVED] Can't open exported files on my laptop

Post by Charlesbusa »

So I exported my day's worth of data via email from my Iphone.
Then I unzipped the file.
And I can't open any of the uncompressed files. I have Windows 7. The uncompressed files are;
ATT00001
ATT00002
ATT00003
ATT00004
ATT00005
LapTimerDB.csv
LapTimerGPSRecDB.csv
LapTimerGPSRecDB4Dashboard.csv
LapTimer-Trackday-12011-42757.hlptrz
LapTimer-Trackday-12011-42757.kml

What program opens these files? Windows 7 has no idea and neither do I.

Thanks,
Charles

Hi,

LapTimerDB.csv:
versatile comma seperated values file, made for any custom post processing, has a list of laps

LapTimerGPSRecDB.csv:
versatile comma seperated values file, made for any custom post processing, has the data recordings for the laps above

LapTimerGPSRecDB4Dashboard.csv:
versatile comma seperated values file, made for TrackVision and DashWare overlaying software

LapTimer-Trackday-12011-42757.hlptrz:
LapTimer's own format, you can use it to transfer data to friend or restore data; open with LapTimer

LapTimer-Trackday-12011-42757.kml:
your laps and data recordings prepared for Google Earth (available for Windows for free)

Thank you for the fast response!!!

OK, I did some googling and found out that .csv files can be opened by word processors and spreadsheets. I have Microsoft Works and found that the files are easier to read with Works Spreadsheet. Is that the type of program that this data was intended to be opened in? Or is another program better?

For Trackvision and Dashware, where do I get those programs?

For the .hlptrz, is there a Harry Lap Timer program available for my laptop?

I'll check into Google Earth.

Thanks again for the support! I may not know much now, but I'll catch on.

Hi,

For TrackVision and DashWare, please ask Google, both are for video overlaying (in case you want more than LapTimer does).
There is not LapTimer available except on the iOS platform. You can send any .hlptrz file to an email account you have access to from your iPhone. Press the attachment in the Mail app and you will be asked whether you want to open (import) it into LapTimer. As I said, this can be used to restore data you have lost.

I downloaded google earth 6 for free.

But I can't get anything to happen.

If I double click on the .kml file and select google earth to open it, google earth opens but there is no indication that the file did anything in google earth. Same thing happens if I start google earth, then open file. Don't see anything from the lap timer.

What am I supposed to see when opening the .kml file in google earth?

Thanks,
Charles

Please send your .kml file to LapTimer@gmx.de, I will check. If everything is fine, clicking a .kml file will open it in Google Earth and zoom to the area driven. You should get a picture like the one below. To check if was opened, please have a look into the left sidebar, you should see the LapTimer Export here.
