Dynamically building a track course
Dynamically building a track course
I was at Pocono raceway recently and the courses were already in the HLT database. However, on the 3rd day the sponsors decided to build a hybrid infield course that was not exactly what was in one of HLT configurations. Is it possible to have the ability to build dynamically a course from the information captured by GPS plot points and multiple laps on a track? If not, what was my solution when the track design changed at the last minute.
Re: Dynamically building a track course
Well, I think all that you really need for a track is a start/finish line. As long as the sponsors didn't change the start/finish, HLT should record just fine. The only issue I see (of course, there could be others I am unaware of
), is that all the laps recorded over the 3+ days will be seen by HLT as Pocono, so the modified course laps will be grouped with the normal ones. To me, this wouldn't be a big deal, but you may feel otherwise. The work involved in creating a separate track for the modified course is not trivial. It would require (among other things) removing the current Pocono course and laps since two tracks in the same vicinity can't be installed at the same time.
Hope I've got this all straight.

Yes, that's the way it works. In case the start / finish is moved, just use the New Track assistant to create it - it is easy. Take care you unload the standard track set so you do not get conflicts...
