Hillclimb and Sprints

Post by Nevtiger »

Harry,

Is it best to use the AutoX set up for Hillclimbs and Sprints?

These events are standing start events and it seems logical to use the AutoX Standing Go trigger?

If so the only real difficulty is using the 'Staged' button whilst wearing race gloves, although i will investigate 'conductive thread' sown into my glove finger in the first instance :-)

Any one with experience of setting up HLT for Hillclimbs and Sprints i would appreciate type or pitfalls to be avoided!!

Cheers

The standing starts are indeed more complicated to handle. You may consider using a standard Go trigger some way down the road instead. The AX assistant is what you will typically use as it supports tracks with separate starts and finishes. As the assistant will time out before you reach the finish line (particular for hill climbs), please consider setting the triggers in fictive places and move them to the right position in Map view once you have finished the assistant.

Ok, i see, use the assistant to create the triggers and then move them to where they are required on the map view. Excellent.

Thanks

Rather than dragging in map view, you can edit the latitude and longitude directly. While standing at the correct location, go to the lap list and select the track. Then select the POI you want to edit. Select latitude or longitude and then go to the GPS page to get the correct data. Switch back to lap list and enter the data. That's also where you enter the direction of travel at the trigger point. The AX assistant is nice, but you don't need it. You can enter POI's directly from the GPS page. Touch the plus marker in the upper right corner (I liked it better when it was in the upper left corner) and then edit the POI. You can even create the track name to associate with the POI there. That's also how I create split points.

Ok, i shall try that. I have been using the road outside the house as a 'test track' to work out the best way of doing it. Its coming together slowly :-)
