Lost data using ipod touch

Was at first DE day of the season the past weekend and using the same ipod touch I have previously used. Had recently updated the app, but it retained my user ID/car and last years laps. It was working fine all day and prior and current laps shown in lap list. But last session of the day the device ran out of battery and died. After recharging I find all data is lost, iincluding my driver ID and car info and ALL laps.
I have checked through all filters etc but see nothing anywhere. Interestingly the one session I video'd was still there.
On the ipod touch is there a way to retrieve files that may be buried somewhere within? I have reviewed your sending files to harry thread but that seems to be for iphone - is same for ipod? I had made some car changes and was very interested in comparing times/segments etc.
any help appreciated.

Not related to iPhone or iPod... I assume the database has been written (busy) when the iPod lost its power and left the database in an undefined state. The next time LapTimer is started, it will try to recover from this. In case it can't, it stores the database files into a recovery dir in the Documents folder mentioned in the named thread on sending databases. In addition, it restores the standard demo databases to make LapTimer operable again.

So to recover, please copy the .pdb file from the recovery directory into the Documents folder. Here is a step by step description:

• Kill LapTimer if running
• Remove any *.pdb, *.pdb.save files from Documents, as well as the files .pdb.dirty and .save.busy in case they exist
• Copy all the *.pdb files from the recovery folder one level up into the Documents folder
• Restart LapTimer, change to Lap List, and press the Check Data button in the bottom

Please check the sending databases thread for tooling required. Please copy the files, don't move them. The recovery directory is probably your last backup

In case LapTimer is not able to repair the database in the last step, you need to send the databases from the recovery directory to me.

this is great and thank you for the advice and offer on the files if I can not make it happen.

I did some additional searching last nite. The suggested browser on your Sending Files sticky would not allow me to see apps or documents on the ipod touch - not sure if something I was doing wrong or unique to ipod touch. I ended up searching and downloading a browser from here: http://dl.i-funbox.com/
No affiliation or guarantee but it worked fine and had a much more robust interface. I found the document files and they were indeed in recovery folders. I will try to restore them tonite and let you know.

Apparently, killing the app too quickly or rebooting, I'm not sure which, can cause this behavior too.
