Go pro will not record

Post by lowfill »

When I go to start video recordings either automatically or manually HLP does not trigger GoPro3 to start recording. I have the icon on the screen for the go pro, and if I go to the go pro app it will start the camera remotely. What am I doing wrong?

Sounds like you have set an individual password for you GoPro wifi. Please enter LapTimer's Settings and enter this password in "GoPro Password".

The full list of items to test:

- you need to run LapTimer GrandPrix
- MultiCam needs to be enabled in LapTimer Settings
- Password set in LapTimer needs to match the GoPro wifi password
- the GoPro wifi needs to be set to App Mode
- entering Video View should power on the HERO - a placeholder appears
- starting recording (red button in video view - for testing) should start recording for the HERO too

Hurray: Thanks Harry. Had to use the go pro app an update camera name and password, then entered new password in HLT, tried recording and it worked :D .
Now I have another question. How do I make the go pro recording the master, and will the data file still be recorded on the master?
Thanks again Harry

To change the role of individual videos (master, pip), select the lap to be overlaid, press Edit, and drag the video to the position you want. I don't understand the question "and will the data file still be recorded on the master?" - please rephrase.

That doesn't work for me. It gives me an invalid master error message. I've tried different Handbrake presets as well as VideoReDo and nothing seems to work. I'm thinking it may be a function of the selected bit rate during the conversion, but I have no idea what to use.

That's probably a different issue addressed in v18.1 already. In case you used the metadata approach to link a GoPro video, LapTimer up to the current version cannot find the video once moved to master. No idea since when this happens but it seems most LapTimer users connected laps and external footage manually or using Re-Link. To work around, please convert the MultiCam link by a "hard link" as follows:
  1. Select the lap, you see a preview of the assigned GoPro video
  2. Select the Preview row, you will see Video Details next
  3. In LapTimer Integration, take a note of the time shown next to the Lap# row (example: 16:43.65)
  4. Return to Lap Details
  5. Press Edit
  6. "Delete" the Video
  7. Select Add Video, LapTimer will present the full list of all videos available
  8. Select the video you “deleted” before
  9. Select the time you took a notice of before (16:43.65)
  10. Press Set and Done when back in Lap Details
Now, you can move the video around without running into the problem. As written above, this is fixed in version 18.1 already (waiting for Apple's review currently).

Thanks, that worked. After deleting and and adding back, I could move the video to master.

Harry tried editing and moving master to pip, and visa versa, did it before and after I overlayed the videos, but when I view them once they have been changed I no longer get the PIP. I am transfering thew go pro video to my photo album, then relinking it to HLT in the PIP slot. It works fine if I do not try to change the master and PIP setting.
