Modify an existing track from a calibrated aerial photo?
Modify an existing track from a calibrated aerial photo?
How would I modify an existing track that is changing - they are adding additional track to make a longer loop? I have a calibrated aerial photo I suspect has sufficient detail. It would seem possible to add the route, POIs, splits, etc, directly from map coordinates, but I don't see how to do so.
Re: Modify an existing track from a calibrated aerial photo?
Is the new configuration visible in Apple's maps already? Or is it visible in Google Earth?

The version on Google Earth/Maps is a few months old. The Apple Maps one even more out of date. The track's site has an updated image: http://thunderhill.com/staticpages/inde ... 2084513181

The track is visible in Google Earth and needs to be defined here. Is the configuration you have in mind the outer line of the areal photography.

The expected track for "Thunderhill 5 mile with Cyclone" is here: https://plus.google.com/photos/10238203 ... YvDxMDozQE
Re: Modify an existing track from a calibrated aerial photo?
The new configuration is only. I have entered 5 mile length. In case you have a better / more accurate length, please let me know. The lap length is used for filtering the hall of fame, so this value is important.

Ok I will get information. They will be able to run as one 5 mike track, or as two tracks at once - one the current 3 mile track plus the other the new 2 mile section.
Re: Modify an existing track from a calibrated aerial photo?
Thanks for adding the new info on Thunderhill!
A few details: https://plus.google.com/u/1/photos/+Thu ... 5805873518 has the new turn numbers per the track owners.
The track will have a number of configurations:
1) Existing 3 mile track run with "cyclone" configuration (already in the database)
2) Existing 3 mile track run with "bypass" configuration (already in the database)
3) New 5 mile track run with "cyclone" configuration (this is the one you added)
4) New 5 mile track run with "bypass" configuration (not in the database)
5) New 2 mile track - Thunderhill West - run by itself (not in the database. on the link above, that means the track will have a start/finish between turns 20 and 21, and the track loops back from turn 22 to turn 11)

O.k., but I leave this exercise to someone else

Re: Modify an existing track from a calibrated aerial photo?
Hi, regarding the new 2 mile track - it is open to be run independent of the 5 mile (as noted in the earlier post). Is there anyway to get this 2 mile track "Thunderhill West" loaded into the standard maps?
You'll see here it will become a standard stand-alone section many users will want available via your app.
