Early Start of Video before automatica timer start

Post by fountaic »

Harry,

Can you add a feature for autocross users that either allows the video to be start manually before the timer is started automatically from a trigger (standing start or location triggered) or the video starts automatically as you approach the start line (maybe when the 'staged' button is hit for a standing start. It would be nice to have a few seconds of leading video before the timed run actually started and the timer starts.

Thanks

Great App! Keep up the good work.

For regular position based starts, this is possible already: just enter video view and start recording manually. Switch back to Timer and video recording will continue in background. Cross a trigger and a new lap is started. For standing starts, this doesn't work currently.

I was going to ask for this feature as well. What I noticed is that in autocross mode when you cross the start line the video does not start instantly so you miss the first second or so of driving. Are you saying that you can start the video recording and then when you cross the start line it will trigger the timer? That's how it should work ideally I think. The video would be more interesting if it didn't start with the car already roaring along.

Put simply I would like to be able to start the video, then when crossing the start line have the timer start, then stop when crossing the finish line. Additionally it would be cool to be able to record a few seconds after but that is not a big deal as much as the start.

That's how it works. LapTimer memorizes if the video recording has been started manually and will not control this part until you stop it manually again. The rest is working as usually. However, this does not yet work for Standing Go triggers like used for AX often. For Go and Stop/Go triggers it works.

So that's the problem. Well, that and loosing the Bluetooth connection to the GPS during a run. It's hard to get a stop trigger when that happens.

When you start video recording early, do you still get a stub lap in the lap list with a lap time equal to the time between starting recording and when you cross the Go trigger?

Currently it is like this. Plan is to move these fragments and incomplete laps (e.g. when crashing) into a seperate section in the future.
