Laptimer Crashes Consistently with IOS

Post by Sayajin »

I am hoping that someone can offer some assistance here. I am using the newest version of HLT as well on an iPhone 5 with the new IOS.

Long story short, 95% of the time that I am using HLT to record a lap with video (I have never tried without video) HLT crashes and returns me to the home screen with no error message. I have had this problem with HLT since a few updates ago. I was previously running HLT on an iPod Touch and read somewhere that the crashing was due to the device not having enough RAM. So I tossed out my iPod and upgraded to an iPhone 5 as it had more memory. Unfortunately, the problem has persisted.

I have tried closing all other applications, power cycling the phone prior to launching the application, factory reset of the devices. Unfortunately none of these items worked.

If anyone can offer some advice on what the reason HLT is constantly crashing is I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

Please check the topic on sending crash logs sitting in the top of this forum. I had problems reading crash logs from LapTimer v17.5 versions, so it would be good to get one from the current (18).

Harry,

I followed those directions and sent logs over a few days ago. The logs are from the current 18 version, Thanks.

Hi,

I received your crash logs but they were still in my working queue... I usually do not double check between posts and mails. As a general rule please always mark posts and mails if a second report has been sent through a different channel - it confuses me otherwise :-)

I checked your logs. All except 2 of them have been generated by LapTimer 17.5.5. Although I'm not able to read the crash logs completely (see my remark above), I can recognize a pattern I have seen for one other user before. Not sure it is solved in v18, it appeared intermittently. In case you face further crashes in v18, please always send them back to me. In case you can identify a pattern (e.g. it crashes a certain time after a view has been closed, or some special operation has been performed (sensor addition / removal or others), that would be extremely helpful. The issue is difficult to capture as it appears during a deferred function call - i.e. the initiating position in code is not visible.

One more item: for v17.5.5 LapTimer crashed due to some background Motion library activities. LapTimer does not use that library currently, but iOS may call it indirectly. Please check if you have any apps running in background utilizing Motion Activities. To identify these apps, please select iOS -> Settings -> Privacy -> Motion Activity

The 2 crashes from v18 are in iOS's graphics code, not sure this is related to iOS7.1. Again, in case you can reproduce a crash, that's the easiest way to find the issue.

Harry, Thanks for the response and I apologize for the double post. I will be sure to clarify in my next post. I have a race next week and I will attempt to generate more crash logs and to see if I can pinpoint what the steps cause the crash or if there is a specific time. Thanks and I will keep you posted.
