Does the Phone Need to Be Mounted in Stationary Position?

Post by Dubbedown »

If I’m using an external gps device that’s mounted in a fixed location, will the data still get accurate readings if the phone itself is moving around a little (glove compartment, pocket, etc).?

When using the phone in any position not shown in illustration #4 of LapTimer’s Quick Reference, you will not get usable acceleration data. You can use this setup nevertheless but need to take care the app is active and the phone is not set to sleep (ie screen on). Acceleration can be recalculated from GPS after the fact. See Lap List / any lap / Data Recordings / Fixes / second button in the bottom / Acceleration.
