PIDs for Porsches

Post by gowthamn »

Does anyone have PIDs for Porsches for brakes and steering angle?

I just posted a similar question. What model do you have?

You might take a look at this: https://forum.autosportlabs.com/viewtopic.php?t=5616

It's a 987.2, but I would think Porsche would try to use common PIDs. However, Porsche is a bit unique, so who knows.

These look awesome. Anyone tried it yet? I don't think laptimer has overlay for steering angle tho.
PID 194 Steering Angle
Bytes 0 & 1, little endian, signed, X 0.045 (seems to mirror the E46 M3 config; multiplier needs to be tested)

PID 194 Steering rate of change
Bytes 2 & 3, little endian, signed, X 0.045 (multiplier needs to be tested)

These are CAN message IDs, they are not mapped to OBD necessarily. Using a non OBD device like the RCP3 (accessing CAN directly), it may be possible to access these values and map them to LapTimer. For standard OBD adapters, there is a missing link in that messages are not mapped to OBD.

Hi Harry,

Just to be clear, are you saying that it's not possible to get 2010 Porsche 987.2 Cayman S brakes or steering angle data via a Kiwi3 OBDII?

Thanks,

No, it may be possible provided there are custom PIDs and someone can provide information on what they are. However I have not seen public custom PID definitions for Porsches so far.

Realize this is an old thread, I wrote that thread and happy to provide background on the CAN bus, the mappings I found, and how tapped into the CAN bus.
