Getting exact time on hill climb

Guidance please. I need to be able to get an exact time on a route that I can predrive
If I drive quickly and then pause before the finish line and then ensure I cross the finish line at the exact time required. How will that reference lap help me on the competition day
Will the plus or minus gap compare my distance and time for every part of my run or
Will it mean that I have to cover the route on exactly the same basis as the ref lap. In other words drive quickly and pause near the finish
Stopping is not allowed. I am hoping that LapTimer will allow me to keep a slower average speed for the whole route
That was difficult to explain. I hope you understand what I am trying to achieve

LapTimer compares your current position to the position you had reached driving a reference lap (at the same time) continuously. The resulting gap time will be displayed continuously too. Pausing a reference lap recording will create unexpected "jumps" in gap time, this will not be helpful. A feature to stretch or slow down the time line is not available. This would allow you to drive a reference lap and derive another one by setting a different lap time. On my list. You can certainly export a recording to .hlptrl, edit it and copy it back, but this is non trivial math and scripting.
