Circuit Tools software
Circuit Tools software
Hi Harry,
I have downloaded Racelogic Circuit Tools for MacOS and am having a couple of issues with it:
1. The software indicates "Video not available". I am using only the iPhone internal camera. The video is overlaid properly on HLT (3 lap session). I have exported the session data using the .vbo format. Do I need to do something else in order to export the video data to Circuit Tools?
2. The custom track works great in HLT, but when I export the data to Circuit Tools there are only 2 rather 3 sectors and the split is at a completely different place.
It would be great to have this working: I'd really like to be able to analyse the data whilst seeing my steering inputs at the relevant time.
Thanks a lot.

Re: Circuit Tools software
When exporting a VBO file from LapTimer, some instructions are included how to copy / rename the video so CT can find it. Data to lap analysis is done by CT independent from LapTimer's track set definitions. This means you will have different positions for start / stop and splits (as well as more or less of them).

Just one of the many reasons why I think CT is a waste of time.Data to lap analysis is done by CT independent from LapTimer's track set definitions. This means you will have different positions for start / stop and splits (as well as more or less of them).
Re: Circuit Tools software
Sorry, where do I find these instructions, Harry? I have been exporting overlaid video in .vbo format using mail. The mail itself contains the following text, together with the .vbo file:

Re: Circuit Tools software
actually that's why circuit tools is better, you can compare any other vbo file it will always set the start/stop and splits correctly
in my case, harry's laptimer has the wrong start/stop for VIR

Re: Circuit Tools software
Sorry guys, the trigger definitions are as they are. In LapTimer, they can be changed as required, in CT they are defined by RL. In case they are "wrong" for one or the other, send a mail t Tracks@gps-laptimer.de and we can add another configuration.MrBlah wrote:actually that's why circuit tools is better, you can compare any other vbo file it will always set the start/stop and splits correctly

The only point important to know is they are probably different for LapTimer and CT. Actually LapTimer exports its own definition to VBO so CT can pick them up. Ot seems however, CT is ignoring them in case it has the track in its own repository.

Re: Circuit Tools software
CT used them if I import the file from HLT first, to get around this I import a file from trackaddict first and it lets me set the track info, then I import the HLT file and they both use the same start/stop/splits
does not matter much which one they use as long as they are the same so I can compare splits, CT took care of this for me

Re: Circuit Tools software
Sorry, it is not in the mail, but in the VBO file (which is in the mail)... You will see something like this:NicholasC wrote:Sorry, where do I find these instructions, Harry? Re: Circuit Tools software
Thanks, Harry. I now have this working. It's such a useful feature. I thought it may be helpful to other new users to explain the steps (on a Mac):
1. Export the lap or session in .vbo format from HLT to the Mac.
2. Export the overlaid video from its location on the iPhone (e.g. Photos) to the Mac.
3. Open the .vbo file using TextEdit. The comments identify the file name which should used for the overlaid video file.
4. Rename the video file on the Mac.
5. Open the .vbo file using Circuit Tools.
6. Drag and drop the renamed .mp4 video file into Circuit Tools.
7. Close Circuit Tools.
8. Reopen the .vbo file using Circuit Tools. The video and data are synced.

Re: Circuit Tools software
I've also got questions about this setup. I exported my session via Dropbox as a VBO and then looked at the instructions in the file, I couldn't figure out which files to name what
the file says:
Rename or convert video GRM-F56FBCD5-GP to VID_0000.MP4
Rename or convert video GRM-377FBCD5-GP to VID_0001.MP4
Rename or convert video GRM-1EB7BCD5-GP to VID_0002.MP4
but the files on my gopro look like this:
08/17/2017 10:18 PM 10,776,344 GOPR3227.MP4
08/18/2017 10:32 AM 2,258,063,630 GOPR3228.MP4
08/18/2017 11:37 AM 2,256,768,383 GOPR3229.MP4
08/18/2017 01:16 PM 2,256,790,108 GOPR3230.MP4
08/18/2017 10:44 AM 2,258,208,185 GP013228.MP4
08/18/2017 11:38 AM 200,716,975 GP013229.MP4
08/18/2017 01:21 PM 924,436,593 GP013230.MP4
08/18/2017 10:56 AM 2,258,151,583 GP023228.MP4
08/18/2017 11:04 AM 1,419,150,399 GP033228.MP4
I tried just generically naming them in chronological order VID_0000 through VID_0008 but hten when I went into circuit tools the videos did not line up at all. Start finish was in the middle of a corner and the lap speeds were not possible
How am I supposed to know which files to name what?
thank you,
-G
