Timer is ending when car is stopped temporarily at stop light?

Post by sac2002 »

I'm a new user, and likely doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what.

I set up a track for my commute to work. Go trigger, stop trigger, and a few split triggers in between.

Yesterday, it recorded my commute normally (my first attempt).

Today, while sitting at the first stop light on my commute for about 90seconds, the timer ended. I saw the stopwatch icon (circled in attachment) flash as the time stopped increasing.

Is there some automatic "non-moving" time, after which a Timer will automatically end? If so, do I need to disable or modify that setting?

Will the Timer end is GPS fix is lost? I was in a clear area with little trees or cloud cover, so I doubt this was the case, but I thought I should ask.

Hi,

Yes, that's a new feature. Many users missed to cancel the cool down lap when coming back into pits. This resulted in memory overruns and other ugly effects. So LapTimer stops recording now when standing still for more than 30 seconds. I will raise the threshold to 3 minutes and consider an expert setting to adjust it or turn it off too.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. While you make updates, can you think of any workaround I can do in the meantime?

What if I manually switched between screens within the app, while I sat at a stoplight? Would my activity in the app override the GPS inactivity, and then not auto-cancel after 30 seconds?

Or is it totally about the GPS being still? Would waving the phone around in the car work, to create changes in GPS heading?

iPhone shaking is probably the only work around... The better approach is to find a route without stop lights. :-)
The Android version with 3 min timeout is online already, iOS versions will be submitted to Apple shortly too, but will require the usual 5 working days for review.

Wow, I asked about a workaround because I figured it would take weeks or months to see some update - I didn't expect same-day!

I was able to grab the update and use it on my way home, everything seemed to work (lap recorded normally).

Thanks again!

Hi, had a similar issue about two years ago.
Then it was fixed during a new release. Now it reappears.
Lap always stops after 3:02, even when moving.
Could not find a parameter for this in the expert settings.
Using Iphone 6+. Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks

I assume there is an issue with OBD or GPS connection...
