I saw the post below in regards to lines being viewed in google earth. However, I would be more interested in split times and line differences. Do I have to export the data and plot the lat/long outside of HLT to do that analysis?

Line differences are planed for the next non bugfix release. Sometimes this summer. So far you can compare lines driven in Lap List -> Lap -> Data Recording -> Preview -> Map. Select the tools hover view and select the fourth display type to see the current lap and the reference lap side by side. This is the place the next version will add a cursor plus effect (in distance / time) from different lines driven.
