iPhone 5 won't import exported cars or tracks

Post by hapnermw »

When I select Laptimer to import an attachment, nothing happens. I've tried rebooting the iPhone and reinstalling Laptimer but neither made any difference. The attachments were exported from v15 in early July. Here is the content of a car I'm attempting to import. I tested importing these with v15 soon after I had exported them and they all worked.

I see that v16 has updated its export format. Possibly v16 is having an issue with importing v15 exports.

Since I spent some time customizing the segments for the tracks I run, I hope there is a workaround for importing v15 exported tracks.

Hi,

LapTimer v16 is downward compatible to the v15 format and should work just fine. What exactly happens when you long-press the attachment? Is it possible to select LapTimer? Do you get any message when opening it?

Long pressing the attachment brings up the screen with Laptimer as a selection. Selecting Laptimer completes the long press screen. The email screen reappears and nothing else happens. I've tried this with Laptimer running and with it off with the same result.

O.k., so please send your .hvehl or .hlptrl files to my email address Harry@gps-laptimer.de I will try to reproduce that.

Hi,

Thanks for sending the .hvehl file. Interesting enough, I have been able to open it from Safari, and from Dropbox, but not from Mail. It seems there is an incompatibility with iOS6 and LapTimer's current file association. I have not found any similar cases on the net do far, but I'm sure I will find something soon. Till then, you may install Dropbox, store your .hvehl (and other LapTimer files) in the Dropbox cloud, and load from there.

Found this discussion - looks similar. LapTimer's files are recognized as XML files which is a common format like PDF. I will further pursue this issue. Till then, please try the Dropbox workaround.

Good to know, thanks. It seems Mail attachment handling is a bit broken in iOS6. Some apps work some do not. Need to further check, have not found the difference so far.
