Help! Video button crashes app

I purchased the app yesterday for use today and tomorrow at ring. Timing works great, but when I press the video button the app goes dark and nothing ever happens. when I press the home button and try to start the app again I get the starting engine screen which crashes back to springboard after a few seconds and then I can start the app again. But can never get video to record.
