[HOWTO] How to send databases to Harry

Post by Harry »

[Updated version using iTunes File Sharing instead of 3rd party tools]

In case you are asked to send your database files for analysis, please go through the following steps:
  1. Connect your iPhone to the the desktop and start iTunes
  2. Select your iOS device in the top and select Apps in the navigation bar on the right
  3. Scroll down to File Sharing and select LapTimer
  4. Copy all .pdb files to your desktop and zip them (please do not use 'rar')
  5. Send the file to Harry@gps-laptimer.de
In case you get database files back to restore, please go through the following steps:
  1. Make sure LapTimer is NOT running on your iPhone (either kill from task bar, or reboot your iPhone)
  2. Connect your iPhone to the desktop again and start iTunes
  3. Navigate to the LapTimer folder like you did before
  4. Delete all .pdb and .pdb.save files in Documents from your iPhone
  5. In case you see system files name ".pdb.dirty" or ".save.busy", delete them
  6. Unpack the database zip file you have received from me
  7. Copy all included .pdb file to your iPhone / Documents folder

Harry:

You were kind enough to send a repaired database to me. In trying ot replace the existing .pdb files using iExplorer, I seem to have to delete each one individually with a separate confirmation for each file. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a better way?

Thanks.

Yes, if I remember right, I have been able to delete more than one file at a time, and sometimes not. Please check if it works using a menu item instead of keyboard shortcuts - but I'm not sure.

A million thanks to Harry for fixing a corrupt database that was most likely caused by user error. Several days worth of lapping have been recovered!

Great product and even better support!

When using iExplorer I get the following message when clicking on any App directories:

This iOS device appears to have reached its limit of connecting to 5 app directories for this session. Please reconnect the device or restart iExplorer to access this directory.

I've tried reconnecting and restarting many times only to get the same message every time. Could it be that this old version of iExplorer no longer works correctly with the latest iOS or iTunes? I'm running 6.1.3 on my iPhone 4S with iTunes 11.0.4.4.

Just reinstalled the free iExplorer version (Mac) and it works with the latest iOS version. Can't test the Windows version, as I do not have such a thing ;-) Maybe someone else can check?

Did you or anyone else ever find a fix for this? I'm getting the same problem.
