Couldn't attach file for exports

Post by kryzak »

Hi everyone!

I recently tried to export a session at the track (CSV) for use in RaceRender3, but every time I try to Mail (gmail app), share (onedrive, Google Drive), it always says "Couldn't attach file" when the email is formed. I tried sending the email and I have all the text info about the file, but no attachment.

I tried this with other formats too, as well as "All" formats, and the same thing keeps happening. This used to work on the Motorola Moto X4, but doesn't seem to work here.

the following is the email info I have for the file I was trying to export and attach.

LapTimerDB.csv: lapped times as universal CSV format
LapTimerGPSRecDB.csv: recorded GPS fixes as universal CSV format

This is an Android 10 problem. We work on a solution. I think it is the same when using the the Share option, but you can try.

Oh I see. Thanks for the quick response. No wonder I didn't experience this when I exported all the files from my old phones (Moto X4) to the new one.

Share also doesn't work. The attachment files always have errors.

I am also having the "Can't attach file" problem on Android OS 10.

I have an older phone with older Android. Is there some way to transfer my app database to the older phone so I can export my laps from there?

The old phone will not be helpful because the problem is to get the data from the 10. When exporting data, LapTimer creates the files to export in some temporary directory in LapTimer's sandbox (local folder "cache"). Next, it allows other apps to access this file (which is the step that doesn't work for Android 10 currently). In case you find a way to access the "cache" folder, you can copy the export. Problem will be that it is still in LapTimer's sandbox thus read protected. To my knowledge, you need to root the devices to do this...

Hmm, that's unfortunate with Android 10. I was looking in the Lap Timer folder in the "Android" folder, but didn't see a "cache" sub folder. I'm not sure if it's hidden or something?

Read-only might be fine if all I'm trying to do is read the data for Race Render.

“Read protected” means it is *not readable* - except for a root user or the app itself.

Oh, haha. I understood that as "read only". =P

So still no possibility of accessing that file without rooting the device or saving the attachment somewhere else?

I'm another Android user having this problem. I miss my old S5, this app worked perfectly. The iPhone kept having data/video on dufferent places on track, now I'm having numerous issues on the S10, but damn that video is top notch.

Harry, thank you for trying every day to keep up with all these different devices! So many updates on all sides must make this a never ending battle
