Audio Gone After Adding Overlay

I've experienced a strange issue recently with HLT. I recorded a GoPro Hero 5 Black video of a session, with an external microphone. I uploaded the video from my iPhone Photo album directly to YouTube and everything is fine (see below):

Subsequently, I added HLT data overlay to the same video in my iPhone Photo album. When I previewed the video on my phone I noticed that there was no sound, other than some odd artifacts at certain points. These artifacts seem to correspond to points in the video where the audio should be louder. See below:

I'm at a loss on this one...any advice?

Probably an audio encoding iOS does not support. Try converting the video using some video editor?
And please make sure you haven't set the mute switch and have set volume > 0. :-)
