Record a video in 4k and loses res after overlay

Post by Tem120 »

I have a GoPro hero 4 I record all the videos in 4k I view them they are perfect after I import the video to my phone in order to overlay the data the final file size goes to a quarter the size of the primary video and the quality goes from 4k to 1080p.

Why does this happen?? What setting do I need to change to fix this thank you.

Hi,

This is not a LapTimer issues but something happening during the transfer. One possible reason is the thumbnail video is transferred instead of the full resolution video. The other is your video synchronization reduces resolution to reduce memory required (4K videos make no real sense on a smartphone, except for processing ;-) ). In case you need assistance on this, you need to say which OS and which transfer method you are using.
