I moved from an old phone to a new one. Both are Android.
The backup I have on my Dropbox is LapTimer-All-20170922-201448.hlptrz From what I read on a couple of posts I simply open up this file with the LapTimer app. I tried this and it opens the app but I don't see any data (of my laps) in LapTimer.
I also tried putting the hlptrz file in
"Local Storage"/Android/data/com.harrys.laptimertrainer/
and
"Local Storage"/Android/data/com.harrys.laptimertrainer/files
and
"Local Storage"/Android/data/com.harrys.laptimertrainer//files/Movies
I'm looking under Databases within the app and not seeing all of my information.
Does anyone have a suggestion on what to try? This file is 1.1 MB so I believe there is information in there.
Unable to restore data from backup
Re: Unable to restore data from backup
The approach I use and which works: send the backup to your new phone by mail and open the mail in Gmail. Touch the attachment to open it. Not all apps handle file opening in a consistent and reliable way. That's a difficult topic in Android.

BEAUTIFUL!!! Easy and it works. That's a great tip.
I would suggest this goes to FAQ.

Re: Unable to restore data from backup
What can you do if the backup file is too big to send via email?
The backup file I'm trying to restore is about 51 MB.
I've tried sending it to myself via Gmail but it says it has a 25 MB limit on attachements

Re: Unable to restore data from backup
Hi Harry, I am also having issues with restoring backups. When I use the restore option, the data (both gps and phone accelerometer) is either partial or missing for whole laps.
Prior to doing the backup I was organizing laps by deleting cooldown/pit in and adding/removing tags and ran into a problem where gps data disappeared for whole sessions. Is this a bug? I was not able to recreate it.

Re: Unable to restore data from backup
Hi,
No bug but some type of data corruption. This e.g. happens in low memory situations. In case you cannot restore a backup, you need to try the next older one. A backup of a corrupted database will not be restorable.
