GoPro Hero5 Session Recording Issues

Post by promethius »

I need some help/direction/advise/suggestions

I recently purchased a Hero5 Session "I know HLT doesn't work correctly with Session". However, I have seen video posts with HLT and Session, so I know there a work around.

I have attempted to use the Session on 3 track days with each becoming worse than the previous.

1st track day - got 11 of the 33 laps with video data
2nd track day = got 7 of the 27 laps with video data
3rd track day - got 3 of the 33 laps with video data

I start the GoPro. I go into HLT, pull up the timer screen, hit Video, link the GoPro. I know the GoPro and HLT are talking, because the camera icon on the top of the screen has two blinking lights flashing. Just before I drive onto the track, I manually start the recording.

On every single session, HLT only links video data to the first lap. When I review the Lap List, the only lap that has the camera icon is the first lap. As if crossing the start/finish line on the track, severs the connection between the GoPro and HLT. Note - The GoPro records the entire track session.

Clearly, I am doing something wrong. I would like to add, I have driven around my neighborhood for as much as 40 mins with the GoPro and HLT communicating without a problem and had a complete video with data overlay.

My setup is
Hero5 Session
IPhone 7S
Kiwi 3 OBD II

Any help is appreciated.
