Samsung Galaxy S4 problem with video record

Post by PitrsRS »

Hi,

I have a problem with video record on my Samsung Galaxy S4 (i9505). HLT ver 18.3.8

When I turn on "Lock Autofocus" and "Lock Exposure", this don´t work. These functions are still active, and phone tries to focus picture between front window and front of the car. With exposure is it same.

This weekend I was for the first time on Nordschleife and I want to record few laps, but phone/app does what he want.

I'm not sure if the S4 treats exposure and focus lock as hints. Late iOS devices do this - whenever they "believe" the lock is wrong, they start to refocus. I will check if there are more settings available in recent Android versions - which one do you use?

So, you think there is problem with KitKat? Do you have tested new Lolipop?

No, I haven't tested individual Android version for locked focus losses... The later the "smarter" they believe they are...

I have a idea to use GoPro cam, but GP version for Android is not released yet, and i dont want to buy another expensive iOS device only for this.

Now I'm back in Czech Rep, so maybe next year it will be better situation and app/phone will work fine.

One more question.

This weekend we has 3 drivers in same car and we changed between laps. So, for every run I change name of driver, but when I do overlay, app put into overlay only last active name, not name wich I set before every lap. It´s normal behavior or I do mistake in something?

Yes, the driver is a global setting, nothing stored in lap level. In case you want to keep track of the drivers, you may use custom tags (check Lap Details / Status section) - one for each driver. However, the overlay always uses the global name so it needs to be adjusted for each lap.
